Daniel Baum, lead mediator and founder of Two Truths Mediation, practiced for years as a litigator before dedicating himself entirely to meditation, with its wider view of conflict resolution.
Daniel, a graduate of Georgetown Law and Columbia University, owned and operated a boutique litigation law firm in New York City, taught tai chi and meditation, and designed personal meditation spaces for urban environments.
Daniel has been engaged in the field of mediation and ADR since 2004 when he studied the subject as a law student at Georgetown University Law Center under the guidance of some of the field’s founders and leading scholars and innovators. He went on to serve as a judge in mock mediations, and obtain certifications and experience at Safe Horizon (later the New York Peace Institute), in areas including community mediation, domestic disputes, civil court cases, group facilitation, and diversity conflicts. Throughout his career he went on to serve as a mediator in a wide variety of areas resolving disputes ranging from the commercial to the domestic.
As a practicing attorney, Daniel represented clients before judges and juries in state, federal and administrative courts, in areas spanning commercial disputes, intellectual property, contract and construction law, securities, defamation, fraud, real estate, construction, employment, and in environmental and family law matters. He’s worked as a public defender, at a NYC based boutique litigation law firm, and as the head of his own commercial law firm where, in addition to litigation and mediation work, he also expanded his practice to include corporate advisory work.
As a mediator, Daniel feels it is an honor to be trusted with the challenges people confront in their lives. He deeply values the opportunity support those seeking relief and a better way through conflict and is dedicated to the principles behind mediated, self-determined agreements.
